Isabelle Mary Ohlin, now 15 months, had just turned one in the picture shown. isabelle1.jpg (14037 bytes)We live in Redmond, WA and Isabelle has a 4-year old brother. Although late to start smiling (probably due in large part to her TERRIBLE reflux and colic), Isabelle has not stopped smiling since she got started! She was miserable for her first 4 months, then with the help of Prilosec (for reflux) and sensory integration therapy (to help her learn to self-regulate and self-console), she has been doing beautifully. She rolled at 4.5 months, sat alone propped at 7 months, pulled to stand at 9 months, crawled backward at 9 months, crawled forward at 11.5 months, took cruising steps at 14 months, said her first words ("Hi Dada!) at 11 months, and once her reflux was treated has become an eating machine. She is a delight to be around--and our friends tell us we are lucky to have such an "easy" baby! Ah, if only they knew about those early times. Isabelle was diagnosed at 10.5 weeks due to a heart murmur and her constellation of health issues and adorable facial features. She began early intervention services at 13 weeks old and currently gets about 3-4 hours of therapy a week. Isabelle is doing beautifully, and people mostly think she is just slightly delayed --a late bloomer-- but a wonderful joy to be around! We keep updated pictures of her (and her brother, nonWS) on our website: www.ohlin.org. Cheers!
