He was diagnosed at 13 months of age after a mom at our daycare
pointed out some "features" of his that resembled Williams
Syndrome when she heard me talking to the daycare provider about
Ian's reflux, delays and heart murmur. We went to a geneticist and
it was confirmed with a FISH test.
His heart murmur was actually stenosis. Now three years old, Ian has had mild symptoms with a recent
discovery of an increased narrowing aorta which we will monitor more
closely.He outgrew his
reflux and just had a double hernia repair.
He recently entered our town's early intervention pre-school
and is doing well.Ian is a
very warm, funny, sensitive, loving little boy whose little arms
around your neck can make all your problems go away.
I hope he will always know and feel how much he is loved, and
I hope he will be as happy as he makes everyone else!
I won't say it has been easy, and our journey is far from over, but
he has an unbreakable spirit that touches everyone he meets.
"Elmo's on?" is his favorite question and he loves his dog,
Chance and his three parrots -- Earl, Jose and
Kiki.
