Are
you worried about your child’s future?
What will happen when I am gone?
Will he have a safe & fulfilled life?
Where will he live?
Will she have friends?
Obtain the peace of mind that your family member will be supported for his/her lifetime in this home ownership project with services by Specialized Housing, Inc.of Massachusetts.
You are invited to join
other parents and families of adult children with
developmental
disabilities in securing a safe, supported and active
community life for your family member.
The 20 E Street LLC has been created to bring
together nine families to renovate and own a home
in South Portland, Maine, and to create an opportunity
for home ownership for their adult
children with disabilities. The home is slated to open
in May 2010.
The legal framework is similar to any condominium model
with each family purchasing a "unit" with shared
ownership of the common living areas and ownership of
the bedroom unit of the individual.
Specialized Housing, Inc. (SHI) will provide management
and staffing services for the 20 E Street project. SHI
will replicate this model of home ownership, which they
have developed with more than 25 years of experience.
Specialized Housing provides management services for the
condominium under a contract with the
Condominium Association
Trustees. Bylaws provide ongoing governance for the E
Street Condominiums with family members or guardians
servings as Trustees and Officers of
the Homeowners Association.
